Conclave at freed.in/2008
freed.in/2008 is taking an ambitious step in trying to bring together people from like-minded streams into a collaborative creation of a knowledge ecosystem. As the scope of such a system is as yet ill-defined, a key part of the event will be a planning conclave, with the idea of:
- Getting like-minded people to come together to talk about issues on which they can fruitfully collaborate.
- Introducing people to possibilities arising out work in other areas. A main focus here would be to get technical, and non-technical people to talk to one another.
- Identifying immediate areas of focus, and laying out a roadmap, possibly one that identifies specific projects to take up.
By and large, the conclave will be behind closed doors, so as to achieve coherence in the limited amount of time available. All *Freed*.in attendees will be informed of the discussions, and have a chance to comment in public panels held at the end of each day. The expected outcome from the conclave is a position paper that:
- Defines what we mean by the knowledge ecosystem
- Outlines the roles of the various groups, identifies the parts of the ecosystem that they wish to interact with, and the areas and modes of collaboration
- Describes policy positions to propose to government, and other interested parties
- Lays out a roadmap for the future, and possibly, outlines a few projects that can be taken up immediately
The format of the event would be as follows, with some suggested names:
Day I: Fri., 22/2 (11am-1pm, 2pm-6pm)
