Freedom in Technology and Software

Fun and Fatigue

Over 700 people, two days of sheer fun, excitement and lots of FOSS. That would be essentially what happened at freed.in/2007. More than 40 talks, workshops and two vibrant panel discussions over the two days of the event. From what we are hearing, the event went off well. There were the usual to be expected slip-ups as well, but fortunately, the community is very tolerant with that and everyone had a good time.

The amazing thing with community events is just that, they are community driven. Speakers stepped forward and became volunteers or maybe they got volunteered. Took charge of halls, took charge of talks and took charge of workshops. Impromptu hack sessions, BoFs etc just happened all over. The two days just went by in a flash!

Before we even got a chance to recover from the event, many of us found our way on the bus to Manali. The trip was supposed to be for all speakers and volunteers. Many of the volunteers had to drop out due to examinations, work and prior commitments, but those who went had an absolutely great time. We landed up being a total of 13 people speakers and volunteers and a large bus. More on the trip as we recover, but in the meantime, keep a lookout for photos and reports from around the web. We shall publishing stuff on the site on a regular basis so do come back.

And yes the next freed.in will be sooner than you think!
